'82 gives a bit of ram air, but the '83 uses the high pressure at the base of the windshield like a cowl hood. Pick your poison.

I love those scoops, but they need some serious tweaking to fit the lines on an '87 and up hood. They don't even fit the '83-'86 well, or I'd have one. It's not awful, but it looks a bit stuck on, especially in person. The edges of the hood scoop do not match the creases in the 87+ hood, and the angle it sits is different.

Ah, I browsed some threads and it looks like you're right. ugh, It has a 2" cowl on it now and while driving, IAT's are fine (guess it's pulling some fresh air in). I'd love to get a stock hood on it with a small scoop or rear cowl like yours.

I'm planning on using an Air Sensors throttle body like yours on a 400HP NA 351W. I want to use a Holley Commander ECU and have Auto-Nomics rebuild the throttle body to add the TPS and IAC. My question is where you sourced your injectors. Looks like I need 55lb/hr to cover 400hp. Thanks you any help.

ol Bruce won't have a problem with the TPS but he usually does external IAC's since this specific TB doesn't have much room for it. He has a newer slightly taller version of the throttle body with downward angled injector inlets that may have the space but chat with him about it. I want to say that version is probably better than the super slim one I got.

The injectors are the standard old bosch style injectors that was used on fords in the 90's. I think Denso works as well. I got mine from an american seller on Ebay after chatting with him about them. They are genuine bosch units that are rebuilt, cleaned, and flow matched and I got my 4 160's for around 100 bucks.

Be careful when buying "New" bosch style injectors as most of the new units actually have slightly different dimensions and won't fit in the injector bores. I bought a different set of 120's first and they didn't fit so I went with the 160's since I knew they were the old genuine bosch units and they worked perfect.

Just a short update: I was workin on some tuning and kept seeing noise issues with the VR sensor input so I pulled the harness apart and realized the wires weren't properly shielded. I replaced those but broke my canister coil while testing (junk old MSD) and replaced it with a factory TFI coil for now. Might keep this one since it seems okay. Matt Cramer helped me check a couple lesser-used settings and we got the noise all figured out. The car fires up like a new EFI car now. You'd never guess it was a roots blown TBI small block on e85.

During all this, I met a guy just a short walk away from my house that just put his shop together with a load-bearing dyno and offered the dyno to me for tuning whenever I need. This keeps me from making fast pulls on the street and will help me clean the VE and timing tables up faster/better so hopefully I'll have some really good running megasquirt cars here soon.

    Small Update:

I did get my starter issues resolved long ago (don't think I updated the thread about that). Upgraded all the wiring and haven't had a hot start issue since. I also think it was getting too much fuel when hot cranking because it wouldn't fire up easy. I got that all figured out and now it fires up when hot within a few revolutions.

I also permanently mounted the OEM TFI coil and rewired the MSD box since my noise issues were resolved. It all cleaned up really well.

Got a better alternator adjustment solution for $11 that eliminated my ghetto welded bracketry and more closely mimics a standard adjuster.

Spent a few hours in the 105° garage in 90% humidity changing my motor mounts to the lower convertible mounts. Sweated so much it looked like my entire radiator leaked on the garage floor  and in the end...... the engine doesn't sit any lower. Lol I guess my stock mounts were so bad that the engine was sagging. The new mounts feel better but unfortunately don't drop the blower any, this leads into my next point..

Finally scored a non-partitioned Extreme Velocity Carb Bonnet (shipping now) so I can remove the janky paper filter/spacers and use a big ol cone filter in the fender well maybe for a cooler air charge. Doesn't give me the Ram Air effect I was after but it does lower stack-up height enough to run a stock hood. UNFORTUNATELY (again), the engine didn't actually drop and the interference with the hood looks like it'll come from the front pulley at the end of the snout. It sticks out so far forward, idk how BrianJ is fitting his under the hood. I'm going to place my turbo car hood on there and see what it does but it's not looking too good. If it doesn't work out, I'm keeping the cowl hood and running the intake to the fender for cooler air anyway. Can't win em all.

It surprises me the pully is hitting. The only time I have heard of that was on a car with a 351W swap, he used a bubble hood bulge from a Mitsubishi Eclipse cut into his hood to clear. However, a 351 is an inch and a half taller.

has there been a trans swap or x-member or different height trans mount used
meaning alittle lower on the trans will pivot the front of the engine higher:blackalien:

It's a normal T5 5spd transmission and the x-member is stock, though if that transmission mount is saggy it'd let the trans drop down and the engine rock upward. Maybe I can take a look at that and replace the mount or shim the transmission up to bring the blower snout down.

    Good thinkin guys!

EV hat installed and I found an old 4" fender well intake duct that I slapped on for mockup. Have a big ol filter on the way and some silicone couplers. Just need to get a piece of 4" diameter tube bent into a 45° or so to have it finished. Might help IAT's, not sure. Definitely good for the flat hood look and after I play with the trans mount, I may be able to make the flat hood happen.

No worries no one will catch up to you to see you pop the hood anyway.

    UPDATE:

I finished the air filter setup. Lower IAT's with the hood on at idle. Haven't taken a driving datalog yet but I think it came out decently clean.

Decided to upload a short idle clip. This is nothing special, just showing how the car idles on e85 with the blower and TBI through a full exhaust. I need to get more vids of this thing :blackeye:

Reposting the Remote Filter pic since tinypic took a dump.
